Emberfall Saga

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG I keep meaning to play for twenty minutes and end up losing an hour to. You build a small party, explore a hand-drawn world, and work through turn-based battles that reward planning over button mashing. The writing carries it — the companions actually have personalities, and their little side conversations made me care about a fetch quest more than I expected.

Combat is where it clicks. Each character has a role, and once you understand how to stack buffs and time your big attacks, fights become satisfying puzzles rather than stat checks. Difficulty is fair; I only got stuck once, and a bit of gear tweaking fixed it.

It's generous with saves and lets you pick up exactly where you left off, which matters on mobile. The only downside is the early tutorial drags a little. Push past the first hour and it opens up nicely.
